User & Society
User & Society has always been the expertise area I feel most connected to. It resonates deeply with my identity as a designer and as an empath. I have always been highly attuned to the people around me, naturally observing their needs, emotions, and behaviors. This awareness drives me to create designs that make life more comfortable and accessible for others. Learning how to channel this empathy into the design process has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my education.
Throughout my journey, I’ve discovered how impactful design can be when centered on users and their environments. This expertise area has taught me to consider the broader societal implications of my work, ensuring that my designs not only solve immediate problems but also contribute positively to the communities they serve. This area has also encouraged me to think critically about the ethics of design and the role designers play in shaping society. It has challenged me to go beyond surface-level solutions, exploring how design can foster inclusion, sustainability, and social connection.
Future Steps
As I continue to grow, I aim to deepen my ability to understand and address societal needs through design. In addition to understanding users, I want to explore the systemic and cultural contexts that shape their experiences. This will allow me to create designs that are grounded in the realities of the communities I aim to serve. By combining empathy with a thoughtful, user-centered approach, I hope to create solutions that are not only functional but also enrich the lives of those they touch.
